Having been blackmailed and deprived of funds for a long tough year, the so-called cultural elite will finally be able to stop for breath and reward itself deservedly for all the efforts. The so-called elite (comprising Šiška as well as Glej Theatre and Mladina Magazine) is opening the avant-garde party to curious taxpayers. Served as hors d’oeuvre will be 30 years of Mladina’s political satire Rolanje po sceni, whereas the main course will be the splendour and glamour of the band Ebony Bones, and a finely tuned DJ set as well as endlessly diverse supporting events.

EBONY BONES

From a soap opera starlet, British singer and producer of Caribbean origins has turned into one of the most eccentric characters of the British music scene. Among others, she is collaborating with Yoko Ono and participating in Damon Albarn’s project Africa Express.

Already as a young girl, Ebony Thomas would be selling music at her father’s music stall, fascinated by productions of Brian Eno, Neil Rodgers, and Butch Vig, so that gradually the best of all genres grew on her curious ears – PiL, Fela Kuti, Public Enemy, Siouxsie Sioux, Gang Of Four, Grace Jones, Missy Elliot being just some of the names that have visibly influenced her music.

As Ebony grew tired of the soap scene, she became Bones. She smashed her bag brimming with music influences and ideas against the concert stage, only to release a furious punk-disco mix of irresistible rhythms, abrupt guitar riffs and euphoric vocals chanting morbid lyrics and sarcastic puns.

The realisation that Ms Bones remains a well-kept secret instead of shaping the tops of the music scene has proven once more that humanity is in crisis. And our avant-garde party will be righting this wrong!
