Sound artists and explorers in concert

Part two of the performing section of series ZVO.ČI.TI so.und.ing DUO presents two female sound and intermedia artists who have been pursuing their own ways of exploring the acoustics of sound and the performance of sound in various artistic situations.

In her works, Robertina Šebjanič (SLO) seeks to establish relations between art – science and technology. Also active as performer, curator, researcher and lecturer, Belgrade-based sound artist and violinist Manja Ristić (SRB) has been positioning violin as an all-encompassing sound object with a poetic sonic palette of unconventional possibilities in the creation of sound. In their joint electro-acoustic performance they will be using an arsenal of sound possibilities taken from their long-term reasearch as well as the expressive capacity of their instruments.

Robertina Šebjanič is an intermedia artist living and working in Ljubljana. In her works, she seeks to establish relations between art – science and technology. In recent years she has been focusing her research on the field of living systems and marine organisms, which results in her audiovisual performances, sound art as well as ambiental immersive installations.

In her solo part, she will perform her work Vortex: a sound performance in which rotational movement within the liquid provokes “underwater audio archives” – recordings of the North and Adriatic Sea. Vortex is composing a new soundscape. The collisions of nature sounds and human presence result in noise, its anthropogenic presence in the sea slowly beginning to control the soundscape of marine life. Technical support to her performance has been ensured by Slavko Glamočanin.

Manja Ristić is a multimedia and sound artist, violinist, performer, curator, researcher, lecturer and cultural manager. Being a soloist and performer of chamber classical music, she toured Europe and collaborated with notable artists, composers and conductors. After completing her postgraduate studies she began focusing on multimedia performances, research into instrumental electroacoustic music, performance, sound art, as well as conceptual and functional music, audiovisual installations and experimental theatre.

In Kino Šiška, Manja will be presenting her continued work – Violin Revealed – Alternative Guide to Violin’s Sonic Life , which she created last year. The composition concept comprises a solo improvised performance as well as a special graphic system for the staff notation, mapped through a very personal approach that positions violin as an all-encompassing sound object with a poetic sonic palette of unconventional possibilities in the creation of sound

Organised by  Zavod CONA and Kino Šiška.
