Danish indie pop adventurers Efterklang, famed for their spectacular, sincere live shows and tireless exploration of their own musical expression, will present their heavily anticipated new album, slated for release in 2021 via acclaimed independent label 4AD.
We’ve already hosted Mads Brauer, Casper Clausen and Rasmus Stolberg, three childhood friends, in Šiška with their side project Liima. This time, they’ll introduce us to their primary band Efterklang, which has taken them from the more electronically inclined post-rock beginnings of the album Tripper and IMPALA’s European Independent Album of the Year 2010 Magic Chairs to the bold field recordings from the North Pole on the album Piramida. Along the way, they’ve successfully nurtured a reputation as a band that simply must be experienced live. Both media and audiences say their shows can match any force of nature when it comes to raw beauty and authenticity, and the band itself aims to establish an honest relationship with the audience and build a communal experience.
Before the pandemic, the trio supported their well-received fifth album Altid Sammen with a tour of Europe, selling out famed venues such as the Barbican Concert Hall in London and the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. The band has a new album coming out in 2021, again released on 4AD, and will play it live around Europe towards the end of the year and in the beginning of 2022. In a time when we’re eagerly awaiting the return of live music, it’s difficult to think of better representatives of the concert form than Efterklang, so we’re very happy their tour will lead them to Šiška as well.
