Raster-noton . archiv für ton und nichtton is meant to be a platform — a network covering the overlapping border areas of pop, art and science. They realize music projects, publications and installation works. common idea behind all releases is an experimental approach — an amalgamation of sound, art and design.

So far the catalogue of the label consists of about 70 releases. most of the projects follow the concept of a series with contributions by very different artists such as, William Basinski, Alva Noto, Ivan Pavlov aka COH, Ryoji Ikeda, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Emptyset, ….

 

SENKING (DE)

Senking is a long-standing project of German DJ, electronic music producer and creator of audiovisual concerts Jen Massla, which has already started l. 1995. Massel comes from Cologne, a citiy with a long tradition of electronic music, which is reflected in his work especially in its creative use of sounds  of analog synthesizers, which are then woven into contemporary resonance of electronic music, supplied in the traditions of techno music, minimalism, glitch, dub and dubstep and movie soundtracks. His latest disc ‘Capsize Recovery’, which is already earning rave reviews, leads us into a dark sounding universe with slowed down bass and drums over which hovers a grim atmosphere, wrapped in the dance  pulse.

AOKI TAKAMASA (JP)

Aoki Takamasa is a Japanese electronic music producer from Osaka. Takamasa is currently on the exclusive European tour. Series of his records ‘Rhythm Variations ” are lucid plays with rhythmic variations, with breaks, manipulated and shaded textures, while its rhythmic core remains dancey and groovey, even funky. Aoki has performed at festivals CTM Berlin, Elektra Montreal and elsewhere, and is successfull producer of, among others  Ryuchi Sakamoto and Yoshihiro Hanno.
