After a tumultuous decade in Ljubljana’s underground, ujma, the solo project of Ljubljana-based singer-songwriter Vasja Onič, better known as the drummer of persons from porlock, will premiere his debut album live just a few days after its release on ZARŠ Records.
With The Hereafter, ujma drags us into the whirlwind of life and opens a window to his own life’s journey, which found solace from the oftentimes toxic Ljubljana environment, full of drugs, alcohol, afterparties and rock ‘n’ roll, in music. Stripped of any extraneous layers and moving from dark folk songwriting to more dance-oriented electronics, the album leaves just the right amount of room for ujma’s vocals in English and Slovenian, with the sincerity of the project underlined further by the intimate bedroom environment it was recorded in.
