Independent German publisher Rotopol is presenting the international group exhibition Rotopol Mystery Show, with works by selected artists in the field of contemporary illustration and comics.
Rotopol Mystery Show is an exhibition series that includes three group exhibitions: The Forester’s Collection, The Traveller’s Collection, and The Inventor’s Collection. For each exhibition, invited artists received small cardboard boxes that contained a collection of small objects as a source of inspiration. With the help of their imagination and associations, the artists connected the objects in an illustration. The exhibition presents the resulting illustrations along with photos of the respective boxes and allows the visitors to take a look at the creative processes behind the works.
At the DobraVaga Gallery, the varied group of artists from all over the world will be joined by specially commissioned pieces by three young Slovenian artists: Matija Medved, Maruša Račič and Lea Zupančič.
For more than a decade, German publishing house Rotopol has focused on visual storytelling and exploring the boundaries of illustration and comic art. Its range of products lets the reader discover both high quality books and artists with personal styles and stories. Rotopol was founded in 2007 in Kassel, Germany, from where it collaborates with an international network of visual artists. Next to their office you can find their studio space, their silk screen printing workshop, and their gallery for contemporary illustration which hosts varying exhibitions year-round. Rotopol acts as a platform that brings together the creative potential around itself, developing it and making it visible in multiple ways. It also regularly participates at various comics festivals and fairs in Germany and abroad.
As part of the exhibition, visiting authors Rita Fürstenau and Alice Socal will lead the Rotopol Mystery Show workshop on Friday, 12th October.
Organisation: Kino Šiška.
