When a Balkan “trubači” brass band crashes the new London jazz scene, that can only mean one thing – Pantaloons! The young Slovenian trio has caused a stir on the local scene with shows at MENT festival and the Radio Študent Club Marathon, beamed to Liverpool in November 2020, and will now perform live on stream from Šiška while preparing their debut album, slated for 2021. Let’s get grooving!
The Pantaloons trio is rooted in in the Chili Brass Band, where a post-practice jam session led Luka Belič, David Nik Lipovac and Aljaž Markežič to rightfully decide that their tenor saxophone, drums and tuba simply must make something together. They wrote their first composition in winter 2016, opening the door to more original pieces, which are steadily enhancing their repertoire. Their music hints at the wild Balkan “trubači” brass bands as well as the exciting new London jazz scene, and is spiced up with funk, breakbeat, dubstep and more.
In 2019, they toured Slovenia as part of the Radio Študent Club Marathon, and in 2020 they were named INES#talents. In November, they streamed a session via the Liverpool Sound City Guesthouse platform, and currently they’re working on their debut album, slated for release in 2021. We can’t wait to get a taste of the first new offerings during their February stream from Šiška.
Due to current public health regulations, the concert will take place only via direct payable stream on the DICE platform, viewable on any smart device.
