AKA NEOMI

new album release

Following concerts at MENT Ljubljana, Waves Vienna and warming up for Róisín Murphy, the refined Ljubljana group Neomi will finally present their long-awaited second album at their return to Šiška.

From electronic indie pop and trip-hop to a more downtempo acoustic feel with lyrical texts, where sounds are not clear-cut, but still bold, surrounding the familiar soothing vocals coming from the singer and author of the songs Saša Vipotnik, accompanied by sound engineer and producer Mario Babojelić with his honed guitar skills, reverbs and delays, Neomi make unique and almost other-worldly music. Supporting the pair are the very talented musicians Dejan Slak (bass guitar, bass synth), Marko Grubar (drums) and Igor Matković (keys and trumpet).

The Ljubljana-based band breathed fresh air into the Slovenian pop scene quite a few years back, then disappeared for a while, returning with a new sound and line-up. In recent years, we saw them at the MENT Ljubljana festival, the international INES network selected them as one of its INES#talents for 2018, and in September they warmed up the audience at the Ljubljana gig of star Róisín Murphy before heading off play to Waves Vienna. The band’s musical beginnings were imbued with a hint of jazz and the lyrics were in Slovenian. They’re currently recording their second album, which will be in English and released on January 2020. Like their debut, they’ll premiere it live at Kino Šiška.

Tickets on sale online and at Eventim outlets.

Organisation: Kino Šiška.
