METRONOMY I SOLD OUT

+ Lynks

Electro pop outfit Metronomy are regarded as one of the most esteemed contemporary British bands, and after appearing on the covers of famed music magazines, in sold-out concert halls and at the most renowned festivals in the world, they’ll finally visit our stage as well. Alongside older hits, their first stop at Šiška will also feature their latest album Metronomy Forever, which has media such as NME, DIY Mag and The Line of Best Fit excitedly shouting: “Metronomy forever!”

During its 13-year career, the currently five-member group Metronomy, led by founder Joseph Mount, has established itself as one of the most intriguing and respected British bands. Music magazines such as Loud & Quiet, NME, DIY and Crack have dedicated covers to them, they’ve sold out famed venues such as Royal Albert Hall, Brixton Academy and Alexandra Palace, and they’ve played globally renowned festivals such as Glastonbury, Primavera Sound and SXSW. They’ve toured with Coldplay, Bloc Party and Justice, their third album The English Riviera was nominated for a Mercury Music Prize in 2012, and they’ve collaborated with director Michel Gondry and fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld.

In summer 2019, the catchy single “Salted Caramel Ice Cream” announced the September release of their sixth album Metronomy Forever, which features no fewer than 17 new songs, intertwining the unavoidable bangers with wonderful ambient pieces. Critics have already begun piling on the praise for the album that reasserts one of the most underestimated British bands as one of the best groups right now – DIY Mag declared the album an “absolute joy”, NME is already looking forward to the remarkable album’s sequel, and The Line of Best Fit is excitedly exclaiming: “Metronomy Forever!” We’ll undoubtedly join in in March at Šiška.

Metronomy will be joined by self-proclaimed “drag monster” Lynks (ex-Lynks Afrikka), one of the leading faces of the new queer revolution. With their sharply humorous view of pop music, striking presence and unforgettable live performances, they boldly erases the boundaries between genres, between the real and the imaginary, between protest and entertainment, and are considered an unmissable sensation on the British concert scene. They’ve received praise from media such as NME, The Guardian and DIY, as well as from legendary stars such as Elton John, and they’ll surely burn themselves into your memory with letters in screaming colours.
