LEPROUS + Monuments + Kalandra

concert

At the end of February, the respected Norwegian prog rockers Leprous, who are considered one of the most fascinating bands of their kind today, will visit Šiška. They will present material from their well-received seventh album Aphelion, on which was released in the middle of the pandemic and tackled anxiety.

Norwegian prog rock mavericks Leprous have created a catalogue of deep, engrossing music over the course of a twenty-year career, evolving from inquisitive prog metal beginnings into one of the most unique and fascinating bands on the contemporary heavy scene. Ever since their debut album Tall Poppy Syndrome in 2009, their songs have sounded out of this world, and with the help of stunning live performances and collaborations with Ihsahn (Emperor), the band was quickly adopted by metal and rock fans from all over the world. Today, the group regularly garners millions of online streams and performs at some of the most respected festivals in rock and metal.

In August 2021, the five-piece band released their seventh album, Aphelion. Having remained extremely active with regular online streams even during the coronavirus lockdown, the band found inspiration in the anxiety of the pandemic and the psychological challenges associated with it. The result is an album that goes from some of the band’s heaviest, most intense compositions to date to delicately arranged, heart-breaking masterpieces that will be played live in Šiška at the end of February.

Swedish-Norwegian band Kalandra spent a decade shaping their sound before finally releasing their debut album, The Line, in 2020. Rooted in Nordic folk music and guided by a striking vocalist, the band weaves ethereal melodies into raw, eerie soundscapes. They broke through with a cover of the song “Helvegen” by Wardruna, which also led to them signing a contract with the respected record label ByNorse.

After more than a decade of evolution and three well-received albums, British prog metallers Monuments embarked on their fourth album In Stasis, released this year, with a new vocalist. The band, which has dominated stages all over the world during its successful career, did its job perfectly even with the new line-up – listeners have praised the new album as the pinnacle of the band’s progressive metalcore sound, reaching new heights with polished compositions and unbridled aggression.
