Nuhara is a project shared by three Sicilian musicians – multi-instrumentalist ethnomusicologist Michele Piccione, electronic producer Federico Pipia, and traditional vocalist/guitarist Gabriele Bazza.
Their sound functions as a forward-looking bridge between two historic 1950s milestones: the field recording of Italian folk songs and the birth of avant-garde tape and electronic music. Working with archival materials, the trio regenerates traditional work songs into unsettling, hybrid sonic matter, fusing Mediterranean instruments with the glitching soundscapes of IDM and guiding listeners from claustrophobic mining darkness to the experimental clubbing chaos of the Sicilian markets.
Summer in Šiška is a series of free evening concerts, from July 1 until September 19, helping you chase away the social distancing blues. If the weather cooperates, we’ll cool off with a refreshing drink on the summer terrace of Café Kino Šiška, and if it looks to be raining, we’ll listen to good tunes beneath the roof of our Komuna Hall.
