DARLA SMOKING

spletni prenos koncerta

At a time when old habits are dying and new ideas are being born, Darla Smoking, the fearless Slovenian explorers of traditional music and field recordings, enveloped in a cacophonous dub haze, will return to Šiška for the first time since warming up for Forest Swords. They’ll bring their prophetically titled 2019 album Extinct and earlier material to life on stream, also with the help of visuals by the mysterious Atlas Skull.

At the release of the third album Extinct by Darla Smoking in November 2019, a cry rang out: “Extinct is the new dead!” Soon after, gloom descended upon the world and has not dissipated yet. “With the epidemic and with social life grinding to a halt, we’ve experienced a moment of self-reflection and the possibility to look inside ourselves, which each individual is taking advantage of in their own way. We’re witnessing the extinction of life as we know it and entering a new era of our planet,” say acclaimed Slovenian drummer Jaka Berger – BRGS and electronic wizard Nac. On their excellent album Extinct, their hypnotic layered exploration of traditional music through a pseudo-dub prism and hefty rhythms draws attention to the extinction of native peoples and animals, but a year later, their warning sounds even louder, even farther.

After the scant few shows the pair managed to carry out before lockdown, the music of extinction will finally come to life in a streamed performance from Kino Šiška. Wishing to spread positive thoughts and compassion to all living beings, they’ll spice up the setlist with a few treats off of their album Pass The Bless, and the entire performance will be enhanced with visuals by the mysterious Atlas Skull.

Due to current public health regulations, the concert will take place only via direct payable stream on the DICE platform, viewable on any smart device.

Organisation: Kino Šiška.
