DAKHABRAKHA I SOLD OUT

concert

After stealing the show at the Druga Godba Festival in 2019, global sensation DakhaBrakha is returning to Šiška! The cult Ukrainian quartet, whose “ethno chaos” has won over media and packed venues all over the world, will treat us to a wild and unforgettable Valentine’s Day with their latest album Alambari.

Although DakhaBrakha have been around for almost twenty years, packing shows around the world – at festivals such as Glastonbury, Roskilde and Sziget; venues such as the Lincoln Center in New York and Festsaal Kreuzberg in Berlin; media such as the BBC’s Later … with Jools Holland, Seattle’s KEXP Radio, the NPR Music Tiny Desk series – with their original experimentation with Ukrainian folk tunes, they are somehow still considered a cult phenomenon. Perhaps because of their origin, perhaps due to their performances, rooted in avant-garde theatre and combining recognizable costumes with a minimalist blend of traditional music and modern musical expressions – it is difficult to label them as “commercial”. But the end result is simply magical to the point that the live performance of these three Ukrainian ladies and one gentleman at the WOMAD Festival left even the randomly passing rock deity named Robert Plant astounded.

Well, they had won us over in 2019 already, when they performed in Šiška as part of the Druga Godba Festival and were unexpectedly the undisputed highlight of the evening for many. This time, they will wield their impressive hats and a wide range of musical instruments in order to present their 2020 album Alambari, slightly more playful but no less excellent than their previous releases – as evidenced by The Guardian naming them one of the best global artists the Grammys forgot. Don’t repeat their mistake and treat yourself to an unforgettable Valentine’s Day.
