After more than a dozen years, Mac DeMarco – indie rock’s rascal-in-chief – is returning to Šiška. With albums like Salad Days and Another One, and his unwavering creative drive, the Canadian musician has cemented his place among the key voices of contemporary music. This time, he’ll be bringing along his highly acclaimed new record, simply titled Guitar
FOR FANS OF: Kurt Vile, Connan Mockasin, Svemirko …
The tongue-in-cheek lad who first visited us in 2013 as a promising Pitchfork darling hardly needs an introduction today, but let’s give him one anyway. Not long after that show in our Komuna Hall, DeMarco released Salad Days, an album that went on to become not only one of the best releases of 2014 but one of the defining records of the decade. On it, he perfected his trademark slacker charm – a warm, meandering kind of rock steeped in the nostalgia of hazy summers, youthful drives into the unknown, and fleeting moments that somehow feel forever.
The success of Salad Days and his later works secured DeMarco’s place as a fixture on indie playlists worldwide and took him to stages across the globe. Yet, at heart, he remains endearingly offbeat. Proof of that can be found in releases like Some Other Ones (“a BBQ soundtrack”) and One Wayne G – a nine-hour, 199-track compilation named after hockey legend Wayne Gretzky. His latest album, Guitar, released in August 2025, stays true to the winning formula while revealing a new sense of maturity, both personal and musical. He’ll be presenting it live in Šiška in June, alongside plenty of beloved older material – perhaps even a few songs from that very first visit, when his cheeky charm won us over for good.
