A multi-year international interdisciplinary project, named after the ornamental, perforated thread fabric that, as a symbol of connection and delicacy, intertwines technique with historical heritage. Within this framework, contemporary dance and music meet, built on co-authorship, exchange, and creative precision.
The project emerged at the intersection of contemporary dance and music, driven by processuality and collectivity. The performance Lace weaves autonomous yet connected patterns, where body and sound establish movements that transcend genre boundaries and become a living texture of emotion, rhythm, and space. The creators approach the process like embroidery: slowly, meticulously, and with respect for every detail. The performance unfolds gradually, without a predetermined final shape. A living form is created directly before the audience’s eyes – all the artists shape their own autonomous patterns together, from dance techniques and technical skills to personal ethos and cultural background. New creators gradually join in, intervening in the existing form and altering the shape of the lace.
The project is structured in two parts. The first is titled Lace, First Weave: Bow, and the second Lace, Second Weave: Seeking Silence. First Weave highlights strings and the search for intonation between polarities, while the second chapter opens the door to new tensions in space, exploring the relationship between surfaces and vibration. Unlike the first weave, which unfolds amidst sharp and taut string sounds, the second part of Lace drifts among bass waves spreading in all directions, passing through us until they permeate all other matter. The second weave explores the theme of silence; not as the absence of music and dance, but as a sense of stillness within action.
