We’re thrilled to announce that the iconic Belgian band Hooverphonic will be performing in Šiška this autumn, bringing their signature blend of cinematic pop, trip-hop, and orchestral elegance to our audience.
ZA FENE: Still Corners, Morcheeba, Cigarettes Aftert Sex …
Formed in 1995, Hooverphonic quickly gained international recognition with their debut album, A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular and its hit single “2 Wicky.” Over the years, the band has released several acclaimed albums, including Blue Wonder Power Milk , The Magnificent Tree, and Hooverphonic Presents Jackie Cane. Their music has been featured in numerous films and television series, further cementing their global appeal, and they’ve also represented their home country at Eurovision.
Hooverphonic’s music is characterized by lush orchestral arrangements, atmospheric production, and melancholic lyrics centred around themes of love, alienation, and fantasy. Their sound seamlessly blends elements of trip-hop, dream pop, and electronic music, creating a cinematic and immersive listening experience that fits in smoothly alongside other genre greats like Portishead and Lamb while retaining its own special touch.
Having undergone several personnel changes over the years, Hooverphonic are now back in their classic line-up, exemplified on their latest album, 2024’s Fake Is the New Dope. Showcasing a blend of enigmatic pop hooks and experimental sounds, the album reflects their earlier works and is sure to be a delight to listen to live as well, when the European trip-hop pioneers finally make their way to our venue.
Over the past few years, Belgian quartet Ão have emerged as one of Europe’s most compelling new acts, blending electronica, art pop, saudade and alternative Latin music into a sound that slips neatly between genres. Shaped by the band’s diverse backgrounds, their music forms a hybrid reminiscent of artists like Stromae and Rosalía, while remaining unmistakably their own. Frontwoman Brenda Corijn draws on her Mozambican-Portuguese roots, singing in both Portuguese and English, her warm, expressive voice woven through sun-soaked guitar lines, layered electronics, and intricate percussion. On stage, they deliver an immersive and electrifying live show, moving effortlessly from delicate, intimate moments to infectious, dance-driven rhythms.
