We’re celebrating this year’s anniversary of Kino Šiška with a special performance from the illustrious Dead Bob, the solo project of the drummer from the legendary NoMeansNo. Flying the local flag will be Čao Portorož, the Ljubljana-based indie punk band known for their playfully respectful take on the Yugoslav musical legacy.

Dead Bob is the raw, raucous solo project of John Wright, the iconic drummer from the legendary punk outfit NoMeansNo. With his debut solo album Life Like – named after a classic NMN track – John steps into the spotlight with a sound that’s wild, uncompromising, and decades in the making.
Recorded and produced in the wilderness of British Columbia, Life Like is a sprawling, genre-blurring ride that resists definition but demands to be played loud. While John leads the charge, he’s joined on the album by a cast of musical comrades including Byron Slack (Invasives), Kristy Lee Audette (Rong), Ford Pier (DOA, Rheostatics), Selina Martin, his son Aidan Wright, and of course, his brother Rob. Live, Dead Bob puts on a fiery, full-throttle celebration of punk legacy, sonic invention, and unfiltered energy. This isn’t nostalgia. This is evolution at full volume.
Čao Portorož is a Ljubljana-based indie punk trio known for their playful, raw, and eclectic energy, reviving the spirit of the Yugoslav new wave with a nostalgic synth-punk punch. Their songs wittily and cheekily expose local stereotypes and scenes from the fringes of everyday life, sonically leaping between sharp guitars, electronic textures, and infectious vocals.
At the end of 2024, the band unveiled their fourth album – a modern-nostalgic rock’n’roll of the future that transforms the legacy of EKV, Idoli, and Paraf into a sound for today. With a renewed lineup but undiminished drive, Čao Portorož invites you to a live show where electrified choruses, stacked synth layers, and shiny tracksuits blaze in full alt-rock glory.
