Retrospective is a silent comic that explores nostalgia through visual depictions of architecture.
Based on personal experiences, it uses stylised colours and contrasts to emphasise the romanticisation of childhood and everyday scenes that often go unnoticed in daily life. The transparent material weaves these scenes together, placing them in the context of memory and showing how fragments of the latter overlap over time to form a larger whole.
Gaja Aksinja Abramović (2001) completed a vocational programme in graphic technology at the High School of Design and Photography in 2019, and is currently studying illustration at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design. She has participated in several group exhibitions and held her first solo exhibition as part of the Locus Artis project (2025). Her interest in illustration dates back to childhood. Through her work, she explores the female experience, emotional worlds, and a playful deconstruction of reality. Her illustrations are visually intense, with a strong preference for analogue techniques, rich in contrast and interwoven with intimate stories from her own life and everyday experience.
