The zine Sretno dijete (Happy Child) is a distinctive comic-style collage in which Petja Kolenko combines photographs from her personal archive, drawings, and other artworks, telling the story of her growing up: her achievements, pains, adventures, as well as her identities as a woman, punk, artist, and traveller.
Since music is an inseparable part of her expression and life, she weaves song lyrics she deeply identifies with or which connect to specific periods and events from her life into the visual narrative.
Petja Kolenko (1994) is a visual artist and art educator living and working in her hometown of Ljutomer. She is involved in organising film and music events, runs creative workshops for various age groups, works in graphic design and photography, and creates fanzines and unique fashion accessories. Her artistic practice is characterised by the recycling of discarded materials, which she transforms using different collage techniques, as well as a constant intertwining of visual art with the world of music. So far, she has presented her work at numerous solo and group exhibitions both in Slovenia and abroad. She has also participated in comics residencies and the travelling exhibition of the international project WOMCOM: Women Power in Comics. Her comics have been published in Stripburger, Komikaze, and Literatura magazines.
