The zine To the Floor explores the spaces of the local queer community and highlights the importance of nightlife as a refuge for self-expression, connection, and the collective experience of freedom.
Through photography, the author documents fragments of his own presence in these spaces and portraits of the people who co-create them. Each photograph is a visual record of moments of intimacy and homeliness – feelings offered by spaces that are sometimes home, other times a club. The zine does not merely document the existence of these communities; it also pays tribute to their members, whose presence creates networks of support and acceptance. To the Floor is a statement that affirms space as a key element of identity and belonging.
The photo series was created under the mentorship of Prof. Peter Rauch at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana.
