The exhibition is structured in two parts and traces the artist’s six-year creative journey through the medium of the fanzine – a personal and independent form of expression.
The first part, displayed in a glass cabinet, serves as a kind of archive: an overview of fanzines created in various contexts, techniques, and editions – from handmade pieces crafted from old photo albums, reproduced in only a few copies, to publications printed using risograph and screen printing methods. This section documents processes, ideas, travels, as well as moments of resistance. Two works hold a special place here: Protest x DIY, dedicated to the fight for an illegal skate park in Belgrade, and Jordan, a visual diary from a journey through desert landscapes. Other fanzines – Hecke, Aritmija, Selo, Ronca, Tvrda glava, Sanacija mosta, and Čvor (Knot) – foreground everyday life, the village, life on the road, and community. Gentle observations intertwine with raw directness, while handcrafted techniques meet content rooted in personal insight, labour, and travel.
The second part of the exhibition focuses on the artist’s latest fanzine, which chronicles a trip to Sicily as part of a residency with the Lyc collective, where they explored Catania and the outskirts of Mount Etna. In this narrative, olives become a symbol – simple, ever-present, accessible, and leaving a trace of flavour and a sense of abundance in the daily rhythm of the South.
David Milosaljević (1994) was born in Gornji Milanovac. In both his work and daily life, he strives to remain true to honesty and truth as guiding principles. His practice encompasses printmaking, fanzines, collective action, and experimental forms of artistic expression. He is a co-founder of the Samit nesvrstanih and Klopka festivals, platforms that bring together music, art, and social critique. He is also an active member of several collectives – Matrijaršija, Provins, Longest Night, and Odmagači – through which he explores the boundaries between art, activism, and everyday life. He is currently studying printmaking at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana.
