On the stage of the Cathedral, the Women’s Choir Kombinat will perform independently for the first time, presenting the premiere of their new album entitled UPOR in pika (RESISTANCE and a full stop).
The album title reflects Kombinat’s credo: the singers and musicians are convinced that resistance is one of the fundamental human rights. But, as they add, “resistance is not only our right, but also our duty!”
“Resistance often begins quietly – with the feeling that the world as it is is unjust. From this feeling grows a strength that people recognize in our voices. Our singing is not merely an artistic expression, but an act of community: a remembrance of those who dared to say no to injustice, and a reminder that solidarity is the foundation of human dignity,” explain the members of Kombinat, who have been led by conductor Mateja Mauri since the choir’s founding in 2008.
