Is the Slovenian cultural elite frustrated by the fact that it has lost the position of the political avant-garde from the times when Slovenian writers were authors of our constitution? Can the culture with a national mark or foundation still stimulate creativity in times of transnationally formed connections, the world wide web and globalisation? Does this make Slovenian culture too self-centred and not having learned how to establish a dialogue with the politics, rather believing that its national predicate still makes it political in its core?” Metod Pevec

Having a new composition and presided by Metod Pevec, the National Council for Culture is opening a discussion with various guests exploring the issue of how we speak when we speak about culture. The main theme revolves around the issue of national marks in defences of and discussions on culture.

The event will begin with the screening of the short film The Springtime Sleep by Dominik Mencej, winner from the Festival of Slovenian Film in Portorož, which then turned into a salto mortale for Slovenian culture and Slovenian spring.
