Artist Nika Rupnik created a spatial layout consisting of transparent surfaces and architectural compositions depicted on them. She thus transforms the exhibition space into a place of contemplation of space as such. The basis of the installation is a drawing, which finds its echo in graphics and light projection. The layering of surfaces, drawings and their shadows creates a new dynamic into which the visitor enters and thus brings the dimension of their own perception and interpretation into the space as well.
Nika Rupnik graduated in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana in 2012. During her studies, she improved her knowledge in the field of graphics at the Winchester School of Art (UK). Since 2017, she has been self-employed in culture as a painter. Recently, she has worked a lot as a set designer, as well as an illustrator and art teacher. She has presented her work at solo exhibitions: Structure (Layer House, Kranj, 2022), Beware of the Dog (Night Window Display Gallery Pešak, Ljubljana, 2020), Feng Shui (Kapsula, Ljubljana, 2017), Format: Light (with Tanja Milharčič, Zelenica, Tovarna Rog, Ljubljana, 2017; Kosovel’s House of Culture Sežana, 2018), Cityjet (Kiosk Kino Šiška, Ljubljana, 2014), etc. She has participated in many group exhibitions at home and abroad, including Fresh Fish (DobraVaga, Ljubljana, 2021), Fresh Fish: Drawing (DobraVaga, Ljubljana, 2020), Crossroads – Illustration Exhibition (Galerija K18, Maribor 2020), Independent Biennial: Allstars (DobraVaga, Ljubljana 2017), Vojna in mi(r) (Pivka House of Culture, Pivka, 2016; Kapsula, Ljubljana, 2017), Graphic Spring (Center of Graphic Arts, Maribor, 2015; Academy of Fine Arts, Sarajevo 2015) .
