TSCHIMY

new album release

Young Slovenian singer, songwriter, producer, beatmaker and more, who surprised us almost three years ago with the EP Human OS, is coming back, this time with the proper full-length album Princ, which will be released this September on the local record label ENTE. Tschimy’s alternative indie pop retains its characteristic interweaving of contemporary genres, familiar from hits such as “Hera”,”Afterparti” and “Potihem”, though it is launching into the world with a new excess of guitar rock energy.

FOR FANS OF: Matter, Svemirko, The Weeknd

Like the debut Human OS, Princ is based on introspection, through which Tschimy tries to face the traumas of the past. The album follows the story of the imaginary Prince, who was created in the author’s psyche as a defense mechanism, as a shield against the discrimination and violence of the environment in which he grew up. In eleven tracks, we listen to a narrative about his adventures, realizations, love and other relationships, with the album ending cathartically with the Prince’s death and rebirth, the passing of the symbolic Crown to a more mature, more adult successor – at least, that’s what the author hopes.

Early on, we got to know Tschimy through hip hop beats and DJ sets for the Spejs collective and the rx:tx label, as well as as a bass player in the jazz band Lube duše and the piercing voice of the African choir Sankofa. Since 2020, he has primarily performed as a solo artist. As a singer, multi-instrumentalist and producer, he creates bedroom music at a high technical level and always takes care of all the music himself. Tracks from the Human OS EP, the accompanying B-sides and the stand-alone singles “Molokai”, which Tschimy recorded with young local vocalist lav, “Perje” and “Princesa Mononoke”, received regular play on Radio Val 202, and Human OS was even ranked among the top releases in 2020 by Radio Študent. We’ve seen Tschimy perform in our Štream, at the MFF StopTrik festival in Maribor, and at the Croatian Velvet Festival.
