Emerging from the independent Belgrade graphic alter scene, Matrijaršija continuously expands the space for untamed creativity in a collective and experimental spirit.
In their printing lab, they test graphic techniques, explore screen printing and risography, and undertake various publishing projects, either independently or in collaboration with other independent publishers. In the Kamera Gallery, visitors will be able to view their distinctively designed posters and diverse print output, which captivates through its bold visual expression.
Matrijaršija is a living organism that has been expanding from Belgrade’s underground for over a decade – an artistic collective, autonomous cultural centre, production network, and open space for free, untamed artistic expression. At the core of their work lie printing and publishing, particularly screen printing and risograph techniques, which they approach as collective, exploratory, and distinctly experimental artistic practices. Under the umbrella of Matrijaršija, they run the legendary independent comics festival Novo Doba and the independent publishing fair Fijuk, alongside organising exhibitions, workshops, concerts, and other events.
