THE NECKS

concert

Cult Australian trio The Necks are returning to Šiška with their brand-new album Travel, having previously taken our breath away with their hypnotic sound many times and confirming that they are rightfully considered one of the greatest bands in the world.

FOR FANS OF: GoGo Penguin, Nils Frahm, Eric Satie …

The Necks are regarded as one of the great Australian cult bands. The trio of Chris Abrahams on piano, Tony Buck on drums and Lloyd Swanton on bass has been conjuring a chemistry together that defies everyday description for more than three decades. Their long compositions unfold slowly, gradually, in an unimaginably hypnotic way, leading to an inescapable climax through repetition, subtle movements and deep grooves. Their music is deceptively simple, revealing new fascinating details with each listen, and their performances, built around mutual trust, familiarity and a feeling for improvisation, have established them as one of the most unique bands in the world.

The Necks released their nineteenth album this year and once again created a slow-burning masterpiece that takes listeners on a journey into the unknown. The aptly-titled Travel documents the band’s new practice of starting studio days with a twenty-minute improvisation, resulting in some of their most ecstatic music to date. Regularly praised by global media such as The Guardian, BBC and LA Times, the trio has left us speechless on every previous visit, so we can’t wait for their return in November.
