Following a packed Katedrala Hall in 2023, the legendary British gothic rock band The Mission are returning to Kino Šiška with a brand-new album. With the vital, unpredictable, and always excellent band also celebrating 40 years since forming and releasing their breakthrough debut album God’s Own Medicine, we’re also looking forward to a comprehensive review of their expansive discography.

The Mission was formed in 1986 by the former members of The Sisters of Mercy, singer Wayne Hussey and bassist Craig Adams, soon recruiting drummer Mick Brown and guitarist Simon Hinkler (Pulp). That very same year, the band headed on tour with The Cult, conquered the British charts with a couple of singles, and signed a deal with Phonogram. In the following years, they made new hits and successful albums – they’ve sold over four million of the latter around the world so far – and solidified their reputation as one of the best and most exciting live bands through constant touring, as well as lurid tales and fanatical followers. Among other things, they sold out seven consecutive shows in London, headlined the famed Reading Festival twice, performed with U2, The Cure, and Robert Plant, and even played Ljubljana’s Tivoli Hall back in 1988.
Over the past four decades, The Mission went on hiatus several times, lineup changes and other projects came and went, but their current run, last experienced live in Šiška in 2023, is still going strong. In fact, following a string of high-profile 40th anniversary gigs in London in late 2026, they’re gearing up for the release of a brand-new album, Songs For Kith & Kin, in 2027, solidifying their rich legacy and proving their music continues to resonate through the generations.
