A rising star from beneath the Barcelona sky coming to Kino Šiška
After being captivated in recent years by the voice of Sílvia Pérez Cruz, a new musical sensation has emerged under the Barcelona sky. In just a few short years, 25-year-old Rita Payés has risen among the stars, quickly gaining widespread popularity. Her music has reached 52 million streams on Spotify and eight million views on YouTube, while glowing reviews consistently praise not only her extraordinary voice but also her refined trombone playing.
Rita Payés’ music is intimate yet filled with an emotional and artistic maturity far beyond her years. With a soft yet strikingly expressive voice and lyrical trombone phrasing, she crafts a sensual soundscape somewhere between jazz, bossa nova, pop, and classical music.
Rita comes from a musical family. Her mother, Elisabeth Roma, joins her on classical guitar, and together they weave delicate, refined arrangements of beloved Spanish and Brazilian songs, as well as their own original compositions. Their music gently draws the listener into a space of quiet, warmth, and deep emotional resonance.
In recent years, Rita has become one of the most recognizable young voices on the European jazz scene, with standout collaborations such as her performance with the WDR Big Band of Cologne. She has graced the stages of renowned festivals and concert halls, all while maintaining a sense of intimacy and a profound connection with her audience. Her expressive power lies in her simplicity, clarity of melodic line, and an astounding musicality that has defined her since her teenage years. To date, she has released three albums — her latest, De Camino Al Camino, has even brought her to audiences in South America.
Her first-ever concert in Ljubljana will be a rare chance to encounter an artist whose music transcends genres and languages, offering instead an immersive experience rooted in emotion, sound, and sincerity.
