That moment has come. Your favourite Buddies are presenting their new album Use. In May, they will perform ten never-before-heard songs on our Katedrala Hall stage.
Slovenia is opening up, Kino Šiška is opening up, and MRFY have been declaring for some time that it’ll soon all ignite again, because it’s always smouldering at the bottom of our hearts. That moment is now here. Your favourite Buddies are back on the big stage of Kino Šiška, where they presented their debut Story in 2018, appeared at the Šiška Open, and later warmed up the audience for the legendary Skunk Anansie, whose singer Skin praised their performance and adorably renamed them to Mr. Fy. We also heard the four-piece indie rock toboggan from Novo Mesto in unplugged and hybrid versions, and since last spring, they’ve been preparing the ground for their second album Use with hits such as Zaljubila and Prjatučki.
The beginning of recording Use dates back to the first forced corona hiatus in March 2020, when the band hid in the studio with experienced Slovenian producer Žarko Pak and left their more or less finished songs to the daily whims of creativity. Then they just had to finish everything. Rearrange it. Improve it. Record it again. Different lyrics. Would an orchestra go with this? Should the pace be faster? The new record is hard to fit into any genre, as each song has a different style, structure and sound. Such are the times, there are no guidelines, you are what you are not, ev’rythin’ is cool.
For the big live debut, they’re promising the indispensable MRFY rock bash with an enriched visual experience, here and there the expansion of the ensemble and the general takeover of the aura of the institution at Trg prekomorskih brigad Square 3. There won’t be any guest singers on stage, but those of you who count themselves among MRFY’s Buddies will be there.
