Born into a musical family, the singer grew up listening to soul and jazz from the 1960s and 1970s. In his own work, he has woven together the sounds of his childhood and enriched them with influences from his homeland, creating a distinctly Balkan take on soul, R&B and pop that has spread rapidly across the region on the back of outstanding albums and deeply felt live performances.
An exceptional voice, a flair for arrangements that are grand without being overblown, and an easy-going personality led Marko Louis from his native Germany back to the homeland of his parents. With his debut album Shine On Me (2015), he began winning hearts across the Balkans, and has since released a string of critically acclaimed records featuring an abundance of beautiful duets with leading regional artists such as Božo Vrećo, Senidah, Sajsi MC, Edo Maajka, Marčelo and Helem Nejse.
Also active as a songwriter and producer for other artists across the region, Marko Louis recognises no boundaries in music – a life philosophy that serves him equally well in solo and joint projects, and confirms his status as an outstanding creative force, a valued collaborator, and one of the driving figures of contemporary pop music throughout the Balkans.
