His visual and sonic artistic practice focuses on the relationship between the analogue/physical and the digital/non-physical worlds. He often documents everyday situations, with recurring themes of liminality, transience and resistance.

The exhibition 4MGPX BeGe is based on the zine of the same name, created during the artist’s study exchange in Serbia and conceived as a visual diary and a document of the author’s experience of vibrant Belgrade. He recorded his walks through the city using photography, video and audio recordings. Key aspects of the process were spontaneity, ease, exaggeration, an openness to playfulness and gradual introspection. His fascination with the city and surrender to its organic rhythm were intensified by an immersive engagement with Belgrade’s architectural heritage and the forming of new connections. After accumulating material and carefully sifting through it, the artist’s visual language ultimately results in an appealing distortion or near-abstraction, brought about by the repeated layering of images processed using digital and, more importantly, analogue video equipment. Playing with 1990s video mixing desks allows the artist to create specific “video feedback” effects that resonate with the atmosphere of the Balkan city and its backdrop of urban, raw and eccentric imagery. After multiple rounds of processing, the original visual material is digitised and physically reborn through the technique of colour screen printing, which also enables further collage, experimentation and improvisation. The exhibition functions as a presentation of the working process and an intermedial expansion of the winning zine.

Manuel Brajnik (1996, Koper) graduated in Video and New Media in 2024 under Prof. Sašo Sedlaček with the audiovisual performance 44.49066, 20.29060. He is currently enrolled in the MA programme in Printmaking at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, University of Ljubljana. His work has been featured in both group and solo exhibitions, within and beyond institutional frameworks. Among his more notable projects are the interactive installation Threshold (2023), created in collaboration with artist Jan Lavrič, and Unconscious Stream (2025), developed together with Jaka Metelko. Both works were presented at the Lighting Guerilla festival and at the R.O.R. festival in Nova Gorica (2023).
