In April, visual artist and illustrator Maja Poljanc will debut her master’s degree project Encyclopedia Mythologica Slovenica, the first illustrated encyclopaedia of Slovenian mythological creatures.
The black-and-white illustrations, based purely on traditional storytelling and poetry, are characterised by patient precision, attention to detail, and a visual reference to old medical and mythological depictions – all with a plentiful helping of the author’s own imagination.
