Minor Threat, Refused, Fugazi, Bad Religion, and more – serious punk pedigree is hitting the Šiška stage in February with the arrival of Fake Names, a band uniting members of all the aforementioned acts with a propulsive, rebellious, and infectiously melodic sound.

FOR FANS OF: Henry Rollins, Refused, IDLES …

Fake Names is a post-hardcore supergroup featuring an extraordinary depth of scene credibility and musical pedigree, uniting guitarists Brian Baker of Minor Threat and Bad Religion and Michael Hampton of S.O.A. and Embrace, vocalist Dennis Lyxzén and his signature Refused energy, bassist Johnny Temple of Girls Against Boys and Soulside, and Fugazi drummer Brendan Canty. Together, these five veterans represent decades of influential punk history spanning from early Washington, D.C. hardcore to European alt-punk.

Rather than relying on nostalgia, the members of Fake Names channel their shared lineage into a fresh, forward-looking sound. Their self-titled debut album established a lean, driving foundation heavily inspired by 70s UK punk and power-pop, while their follow-up record, Expendables, actively dials back heavy distortion in favour of refined songwriting and prominent melodies.

Fake Names’ seamless creative chemistry allows tightly wound guitars to blend naturally with soaring, anthemic choruses, while richer textures and broader emotional palettes make Expendables a dynamic evolution of the band’s signature guitar-driven style. Ultimately, Fake Names demonstrates how classic punk energy can evolve into something melodic, timeless, and vibrant without sacrificing core intensity, while bring its members’ wealth of experience to bear.
