In the writing workshop, we’ll use submitted texts as examples to discuss useful writing guidelines, address common dilemmas, and help participants improve their submitted pieces.
Application deadline: 3. 11. 2025
We’ll talk about how to adapt these texts to different contexts, such as portfolios, open calls or exhibition applications, and website publications.
The workshop is primarily intended for young artists, but other professionals working in contemporary visual art who deal with similar types of writing are also welcome (such as curators, critics, producers, and journalists). The goal of the workshop is to help improve texts that authors often need to prepare on their own at the beginning of their professional careers (for example, a CV, project description, or artist statement).
The workshop is free of charge, will be held in Slovenian, and will last approximately two hours.
Places are limited. Apply at: maja.alibegovic@dobravaga.si.
The workshop is organised by the World of Art, School for Curatorial Practices and Critical Writing, now in its 20th year, and the DobraVaga Gallery. It will be led by Lara Plavčak, a contemporary art curator and co-head of the World of Art school, which operates under the umbrella of SCCA-Ljubljana.
The application should include:
– name and surname, contact, year of birth;
– one or two texts for the workshop. They can be a short CV, a description of a work, a project proposal for an open call, an artist statement, etc.
– a note about the context of the text (for example, publication on a personal website, description of a work for a gallery exhibition).
The text should be written in Slovenian and be between half a page and one A4 page long. Please submit the text as a Word document.
Free admission.
Organisation: World of Art / SCCA-Ljubljana & DobraVaga / Kino Šiška with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia and the Department for Culture at the City of Ljubljana.
