ZINE VITRINE

Bruno Butorac: VK

razstava

Vaterpolo Klub or VK for short is a zine created in 2021 in Rijeka. The author built new compositions from photos found in the trash, tested the capabilities of the collage technique and gave the photos a new life, although he himself has nothing to do with water polo.

The work is built spontaneously, and throughout the process he played with the relationship of light and shadow, their repetition and random errors. It is a true children’s experiment, in which fragments of new stories are put together by combining excerpts from various black-and-white photographs. The zine was Riso printed with the love and precision of the RISO and Friends collective from Rijeka.

Bruno Butorac (1997) rides a bicycle in his spare time, makes art, combines and experiments with zines, screen printing and collages. He works in the Slabadni Tiska screen printing group, is a friend of the RISO and Friends collective and the curator of the Joakim Rakovac Free Gallery, which works as an exhibition project in an apartment. Some of his works have been featured in group exhibitions: KAOS Festival of Contemporary Collage (Layer House, Kranj, 2018), Izložba Fanzina (SKC Gallery, Rijeka, 2018), Tko Radi Scenu? (Zagreb, Split, Pula, 2018), Neizvjesna Izložba (Kortil Gallery, Rijeka, 2020), Ruku Djelu (SKC Gallery, Rijeka, 2021) and in the solo exhibition VK at the Grey Room (Zagreb, AKC Medika, 2021).
