Constantly reinventing themselves and astounding listeners with their expansive sound, Black Country, New Road, one of the most beloved contemporary British rock bands is returning to Ljubljana with a new album in tow.

FOR FANS OF: Black Midi, Shame, Neutral Milk Hotel …

Much has changed for Black Country, New Road (BCNR) since their debut visit to Ljubljana in 2020, when they played the MENT Ljubljana festival mainly off the strength of their first two singles, which had drawn the attention of fans of eclectic art rock with spiky post-punk influences and boundless genre curiosity around the world. Part of the alternative scene bubbling thrillingly around the Speedy Wunderground label and London venue The Windmill, they crafted a pair of highly regarded albums, before parting amicably with lead vocalist Isaac Wood, who had lent their music such a distinct, sprechgesang-inflected sound.

Undaunted, BCNR rejigged their line-up and recalibrated their sound for their resurgence, captured on the rapturous concert film Live at Bush Hall. Proving that despite change, their creative spark is burning as brightly as ever and their unrestrained approach to genres and songwriting remains intact, the release whet fans’ appetite for a proper studio follow-up.

Forever Howlong arrived on Ninja Tune in April 2025, a bold, richly produced and highly ambitious record, built as much on the band’s lasting friendship as on a new creative framework that blends folk, prog, baroque pop, and alt rock while retaining a distinct collective identity. Although inspired by a wide range of reference points, it’s a contemporary, cohesive, and focused release, seamlessly interweaving three individual songwriting voices into a unified sound, one that also reverberates powerfully through and with audiences when the sextet takes to the stage, whether in intimate club venues or at massive festivals. Despite their ceaseless experimentation and range, BCNR succeed through restraint, groove, and a shared confidence that allowed their musicianship and presence to grow together into a singular artistic statement.

Yes, much has changed for BCNR since their debut visit to Ljubljana in 2020, but one shift stands above the rest. The band that was, at the time, tipped for great things, already being hailed as one of the best bands in the world, not only met the high expectations but thoroughly surpassed them. Today, they’re considered one of the most important contemporary acts, and we’re excited to welcome them back in August.
