ALTIN GÜN I SOLD OUT

+ Moveknowledgement

Following the feverish night of dancing they threw for us four years ago, unforgettable Grammy nominees Altin Gün are returning to Šiška with their sensation revival of Turkish psychedelic rock that has yielded them critical praise, millions of views and performances at the biggest festivals in the world.

Since the international Amsterdam-based collective Altin Gün got our big hall to dance like crazy, a lot has happened – not only around the world, but also around the band. The band, born out of enthusiasm for the rich legacy of Anatolian folk rock, has not only established itself as one of the most prominent and popular representatives of the modern renaissance of the genre, recording millions of online views and streams, but also received a nomination for the prestigious Grammy Award.

This was quickly followed by two new albums last year, Yol for Glitterbeat Records and the charity Bandcamp exclusive Âlem. The band’s brilliant overlapping of the sounds of the past and the present, still finds inspiration in remote Turkish record stores and the psychedelic haze rising from the streets of Istanbul. However, its strong, international pop flair now suggests a significantly different creative process. Remote work during the lockdown imbued the new songs with dreaminess and enriched the sound palette with 1970s and 1980s European synth pop. Listening to the music, you would never tell that the world was at a standstill at the time the records were made – with the seductive music of Altin Gün, it’s simply impossible to imagine standing still.

The evening will be introduced by the local champions of contemporary krautrock-inspired psychedelia Moveknowledgement. One of the most important Slovenian bands of the last two decades has always been fluid both in terms of genre and membership, and after a five-year absence they returned this year with a new line-up, sound, vision and album. One of the year’s most anticipated records, Lying Cobra, released by Moonlee Records, draws on the ground-breaking psychedelia of the 1960s. It is characterized by a melodic, excitingly multi-layered and crystal-clear soundscape, the subtle manipulation of various analogue synths, caressing vocal polyphony and free-floating, slowly developing arrangements that will spin us into the band’s world.
