In September, Amsterdam-based collective Altin Gün will open the door into the unknown, into a blend of Turkish tradition, Western funk and psychedelic rock that places the stated expressions into a completely fresh context. American radio KEXP was so overwhelmed by the band, it immediately recorded one of its famous sessions with them, while we were charmed by them live at last year’s Beaches Brew festival. In Šiška, they’ll present their debut album, released in March.

Summer in Šiška is a series of free evening concerts, helping you chase away the summer boredom. If the weather cooperates, we’ll cool off with a refreshing drink on the summer terrace of Café Kino Šiška, and if it looks to be raining, we’ll listen to good tunes curled up on the couches in our lobby. Passionate singer and guitarist Anna Calvi, who packed our main hall to the rafters in 2014, is returning to Šiška. She’ll present her new album Hunter, the heavily anticipated visceral exploration of sexuality and gender roles and the successor to the albums that got her nominated for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize and BRIT Award.

After the exceptional success of last year’s urban activities day, we’re inviting you for an even better, bigger and Šiška-ier Šiška Open 2018, from the afternoon to the evening.

At our 9th birthday, MRFY, next in line to the throne of Slovenian rock, will unveil their heavily anticipated debut album for the first time. We’ll also celebrate with the premiere of the music documentary Band VS Brand, created as part of our Cultural Euro 2017 call.

One of the most intriguing regional acts right now, Croatian emo-macho group Svemirko, whose fresh sound and unforgettable concert performances swept up listeners and critics alike, is coming back to Ljubljana to present its heavily anticipated second album.

Garage rock ‘n’ roll legends The Sonics, whose ground-breaking grimy, razor sharp rock established them as one of the first punk bands in history and an unmistakeable influence on countless generations of musicians – from Bruce Springsteen and Nirvana to the White Stripes and Japandroids – in Slovenia for the first time!
