MENT LJUBLJANA MADE IT TO THE EUROPEAN FESTIVAL AWARDS SHORTLIST!

Whoa!

Holiday opening times

Hey hey hey, the holidays are here! During the festive season, our café and box office will be open as stated below.

ANTHONY PATERAS + ERIKM, 29. 1. 2018

Experimental composers eRikm and Anthony Pateras, known also for his collaboration with Mike Patton, have teamed up to form a new electronic duo. Psychoacoustic textures, whiplash electronics, field recordings and antique synthesizers coagulate to form a highly specific version of improvised musique concrète.

Temporary closure due to private event

Due to a private event, Kino Šiška (including the box office) and the Kino Šiška Café will be closed to the public on 16th December 2017 from 7 PM. Thank you for your understanding.

Katalena: Človek ni zver, 5. 4. 2018

Merging musical heritage with popular music idioms, Katalena have always been fearless when pushing the boundaries of traditional music, taking it by the scruff of the neck and infusing it with a very individual interpretation. The band’s upcoming seventh album, to be debuted at Kino Šiška, draws on the heritage of Slovenian folk songs with a military theme, and its essence is co-shaped by the poetry of Ivo Brnčić put to music and by original songs that follow tradition in their content and form.

New names at MENT Ljubljana!

After Young Fathers, Algiers and 29 other music acts from all over Europe, MENT Ljubljana is revealing a further 26 new performers and the conference programme. Among others, MENT will feature two musicians who each started a small revolution in her field. Mary Anne Hobbs is regarded as one of the most influential personalities in music media and is a successful curator and DJ, while Dorit Chrysler has been proclaimed a sorceress on the theremin, an electronic instrument played without any physical contact. The instrument’s inventor Léon Theremin also plays an important role in the film Elektro Moskva, a documentary tribute to the Russian pioneers of futuristic sounds, which will be screened at the Slovenian Cinematheque.

Laibach – monolithic sermons delivered with fearless audacity

It’s pitch black everywhere you look, and the intro music buzzing around our ears sounds like it’s was lifted of a Forbidden Planet soundtrack. “This is theatre” one of the photographers points out with pronounced ambiguity, as we’re left staring in the darkness unravelling before us like depressed owls.

Burek Olimpija in Šiška!

With great joy and hunger, we’re announcing that select events at Kino Šiška will from now on feature the best burek snack in town.
