10 great new bands from MENT festival : live review

Of course we will have missed a few bands – MENT is a cornucopia of bands mainly playing in the semi-squat venues of Metelkova Mesto – one the largest, and arguably most successful, urban squats in Europe which sprawls across 12,500 sqm of an abandoned army base and has about six venues in its graffiti-strewn mad max old-school space.

WOLF PARADE, 5. 6. 2018

Headed by Spencer Krug (Sunset Rubdown) and Dan Boeckner (Handsome Furs, Divine Fits, Operators), the highly influential Canadian indie rock quartet WoIf Parade is finally returning after a lengthy hiatus, with its new album Cry Cry Cry, released via Sub Pop, in tow. The record reaffirms that Krug and Boeckner, as well as the band as a whole, are at the height of their creative powers, so don’t miss the chance to see them live in Ljubljana for the first time in seven years.

The evening will be complemented by Slovenian two-piece Warrego Valles, premiering their full-length debut Botox.

DECIBELLES + JÜ

In February, we’ll finally host the French Decibelles, who, as befits their name, don’t hold back on the guitar noise, with their explosiveness winning over METZ, Shellac, Beatsteaks and Thee Oh Sees, among others. They’ll match up against Hungarian trio Jü with the most rocking jazz album or the most jazz rock album of last year.
