Questionning: Ghostpoet

Before the concert in Kino Šiška, we talked with a singer and songwriter named Obaro Ejimiwe, more known as Ghostpoet who would not put himself in any specific genre. He’s doing music to present his thoughts about his surroundings and because he likes to. After a bunch of technical difficulties with telephone connection we finally got to do a short interview about how he started, what’s about his latest album and how is the tour going. On Sunday, 25.2.2018, Kino Šiška, you are welcome for a great musician and good vibe.

MOTORPSYCHO + Dope Calypso, 8. 3. 2018

We’ll head to Metelkova in the company of the legendary Motorpsycho, who have been cruising the rock psychoverse for two decades, infusing it with prog, jazz, noise and whatever other kind of element they think off. The four-time winners of the esteemed Norwegian “Grammy”, the Spellemannprisen award, who have collaborated with Steve Albini and Jaga Jazzist, were rejuvenated two years ago by a new drummer, who also plays in Zu. Together, they created last year’s hearty double album The Tower for the influential Rune Grammofon label, with the recording process also taking place at the famed Rancho De La Luna studio.

Peter Broderick: “Piano deserves its own holiday if you ask me.”

“Sometimes I even find myself doing something that I know I would have hated a few years before. I’m also not even really sure what my ‘style’ is . . . each time I start to think I know what it is, then I want to try something else.”

DEERHOOF + WREKMEISTER HARMONIES, 7. 5. 2018

In May, we’ll again be visited by cult independent rock band with a dash of sugary pop, Deerhoof – always different, always tumultuous and always cheekily bold. They’ll be joined by special guests Wrekmeister Harmonies, whose heavy tunes cooked up one of the best gigs of the year at their previous visit. Both bands will promote their latest albums.

MENT 2018 : Small Really Is Beautiful

Sometimes, small really is beautiful, and Ljubljana’s MENT is that rare thing; a perfectly formed little gem of a festival that still feels grand and significant. In only four years it’s carved out a deserved reputation for excellence, from fans and professionals alike – not only was it was recently voted Best Small Festival and Best Indoor Festival at the EFA Awards in Groningen, but it’s also now generally regarded as eastern Europe’s main showcase event, a hub for bands to reach a wider audience and develop their careers.

LBM Abroad: MENT Festival (Ljubljana, SI 2018)

At an age where I can’t even be bothered to see what’s relevant anymore in the world of music outside of China, I was glad to have the MENT Festival turn me upside down, shake me loose, and remind me that there are bold new sounds happening all around the world for those interested enough to seek them out. And I’m sure as hell going to seek them out now. What more can I say? MENT Festival – you blew my mind.
