In October, we’re serving up a double package of regional music sensations whose awesome hits are ringing up YouTube views in the millions and have left their unmistakable mark on 2017 in their respective countries. Don’t miss the Croatian electro pop duo Nipplepeople and the freshest voice in Serbian pop, Bojana Vunturišević!
Noisy Dutch band The Homesick, whose catchy wall of pop-tinged sound blew us away at last year’s MENT Ljubljana, and whose praises have been sung by Drowned in Sound, Louder than War, The Quietus and Gigwise, will finally visit Šiška in November. They’ll be joined by garage punk/grunge trio 7AM, also faithful devotees of loudness.
In October, the acclaimed New York based Slovenian saxophonist and composer Igor Lumpert and his team of top-notch musicians – double bass player Masa Kamaguchi, saxophonist Greg Ward and drummer Jason Nazary – will present the Clean Feed Records release Eleven, a “darn good album of new jazz” (Odzven) according to foreign and Slovenian media. Don’t miss out on the jazz treat that Yoko Ono described simply as “a great band”!
In October, Mark Kozelek, better known as Sun Kil Moon, the author of the contemporary classic album Benji and one of the most remarkable personas in 21st century indie music, will finally perform in Slovenia, just a few weeks before the release of his new album.
Natriletno kolobarjenje s praho (Rotation with Fallow) is the project of lyricist and performer Jure Novak and multiinstrumentalist and vocalist Uroš Buh. The release concert for their new album, titled Iz konteksta, will be held at Kino Šiška on 17th October. The album was recorded in Zagreb, produced by Jure Vlahovič and mastered by Gregor Zemljič. It contains ten new songs, which are diverse in both subject and genre.
After his former collaborator Lisa Hannigan charmed us last year, we’re excited to announce the first performance of Damien Rice, the superstar master of fragile, beautiful songs and sharp romantic reflection, in Slovenia!
Iced Earth’s European tour goes on and on, in support of their latest album “Incorruptible” and celebrating their 30th anniversary. After the gig in Novara, we didn’t miss the chance of seeing them again abroad, a few kilometres away, in the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana.
Oof, this September evening will be fresh, wild and definitely not one to miss. We’ll be hosting Belgian duo La Jungle, whose pulsing vortex blends math, kraut and techno savagery, and Swiss trio Schnellertollermeier, who apply jazz mastery to brutal rock hits and carefully crafted compositions of unfathomable power.
With the summer calling for stories and creativity, ZINE VITRINE is celebrating International Zine Month (July!) by inviting artists to participate in the 4th International Zine Open Call.
