In her solo exhibition Too Close to Home, Katarina Snoj contemplates the perception of home through the lens of prolonged living abroad.
Elements that refer to nine loved ones, which might otherwise convey warmth, are muted within the cold, overexposed space. The work is rooted in an intimate personal experience that, when transposed into the gallery setting, transforms into universal reflection on distance, absence, and longing.
Katarina Snoj (2002) graduated in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana in 2025, receiving the academy’s award for her thesis. She is continuing her master’s studies at the HDK-Valand Academy in Gothenburg, Sweden. Her practice encompasses painting, sound installation, printmaking, and photography, and she occasionally works as a curator and art critic. She currently lives and works in Gothenburg and Ljubljana.
