Which comics are read and admired by those who draw them? In the May edition of Comic Dialogues, Izar Lunaček and Katarina Šeme will reveal their comic book idols, from the works and authors that inspired them at the beginning of their creative journeys to their current favourites on bookshelves and online.
Izar Lunaček (1979) is a trained painter and a doctor of philosophy who spends most of his time drawing comics, while occasionally also translating and publishing them. In his spare time, he runs the Stripolis comic book shop on Poljanska Street and co-organises Tinta, Slovenia’s primary comics festival.
Katarina Šeme (1993) is a comics artist, illustrator, and designer, as well as an avid caver in her free time. She made a confident debut on the local scene with her first book, Sumatra – A Year on a Tropical Island (VVK, 2022). At last year’s Tinta festival, she received the Zlatirepec Award for the best original comic for adults for her journalistic comic From the Cave (VVK, 2024).
