Tudi Book Club x DobraVaga: Selected excerpts from the book Poor Artists

workshop

free entry

The book Poor Artists was written by critics Zarina Muhammad and Gabrielle de la Puente, who publish art criticism and other writing under the pseudonym The White Pube.

Poor Artists is a critique of the art system structured as a fictional narrative. It follows the first-person narrator, Quest, from childhood, visiting and admiring major national galleries with her mother, through art school and an uncomfortable experience of group critiques, to the moment she attempts to enter the art market and is confronted, for the first time, with uncertainty about whether she even wants to.

The workshop will be led by Olja Simčič Jerele and Lucija Klauž, founders of the Tudi Book Club. The Tudi Book Club is a space for collective reading and critical discussion of theory in an accessible and relaxed way. It’s intended for anyone interested in contemporary art who finds theoretical texts difficult to approach on their own.

The workshop is free of charge. You can take part even if you haven’t read the book, as we’ll read selected excerpts together.
