After entering the temple of Asentra, guardian of sertraline, the fog of uncertainty and confusion dissipates.
Things become clearer; perfectionism reveals itself in its true, destructive light. The fear that there is no way out of the temple transforms into the question: “Why wouldn’t I just stay here?” The idea that misery is necessary for creativity is merely an excuse for a constant war with one’s own brain. The fact is that anxiety has the memory of a goldfish. Maybe it’s all a cheap illusion, but for now I don’t really care. There are enough temples, each one unique and individual.
The images hanging in the temple are rather indifferent, yet merciless and sharp. Each stands on its own, but they are firmly connected. They were created exclusively within the chambers of the temple, and that is where they remain. Guilt and sorrow are key ingredients, but they are now visible only in the rear-view mirror. I have at least a 100 mg head start.
Lucijan Prelog is an interdisciplinary artist and musician. After switching from studying dental medicine, he graduated in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in 2013 under the mentorship of Bojan Gorenec. In 2015 he moved to Leipzig, where he worked in a studio within the Spinnerei art complex. Alongside painting, he is also active in design and illustration, and his visual identities for albums, posters and T-shirts have made him an important part of the underground alternative music scene both in Slovenia and abroad. He also devotes a significant amount of his creative work to music: since 2009, his alter/noise/industrial project It’s Everyone Else has been a constant presence on the Slovenian and international scene, with numerous performances and tours across Europe and appearances at major international festivals. In 2023, together with Pika Golob, he founded the studio Sleep Debris, which has so far released two video games – Cranio and The Council.
