Vlado Kreslin is coming to Šiška for his first headline concert here. The legendary singer-songwriter, poet and troubadour of the Pannonian soul still masterfully weaves blues, rock and Slovenian folk heritage into songs that feel timeless yet remain strikingly alive. Expect tender ballads, dance-ready tunes and those moments when the entire venue sings as one.

FOR FANS OF: Bob Dylan, Siddharta, Dan D …

Now a household name across Slovenia, Kreslin began his musical journey as a drummer, making his breakthrough as a singer in 1980 with his winning performance of “Dan neskončnih sanj” at the Slovenska popevka concert. Shortly after, as the frontman of Martin Krpan, he played one of Ljubljana’s historic concerts – opening for Bob Dylan, a moment that set the tone for an artist forever suspended between rock’s rough edges and the melancholy of the Pannonian plains. In the late eighties, he returned to his roots, joined forces with the village musicians of Beltinška banda and created a distinctive fusion of folk tradition and contemporary songwriting that became one of the driving forces of Slovenia’s folk revival.

Kreslin’s extensive body of work is filled with songs that have long since entered the folk canon, including “Namesto koga roža cveti”, “Od višine se zvrti” and “Tista črna kitara”. His collaborations span from Siddharta, R.E.M. and The Dubliners to Allan Taylor, Mary Coughlan and Rade Šerbedžija – musical bridges that cross genres, borders and generations.

His Ljubljana concerts – from long-standing traditions at Cankarjev dom to summer evenings in Križanke and on Kongresni trg – are woven into the city’s cultural memory, and this time Šiška will add its own piece to the mosaic. A night of skilful storytelling, heartfelt warmth, communal singing and those small moments that raise goosebumps and set hearts trembling awaits.
