Winter is coming! To welcome it in idyllic style, we’ll pay tribute with an evening of winter-themed short films by Mitja Legat, a creator of visual projects about extreme sports and a big fan of the coldest season.
The evening offers a moment to reflect on the power of visual storytelling, the search for new approaches to timeless themes, and a necessary reminder of our duty to protect nature.
The evening will premiere:
FIRST DAY OF WINTER, 8’
A short fairy tale about the kind wizard Zimnik, guardian of winter, who battles disruptions to natural cycles in an effort to save and restore his beloved season. We’re invited to peek into his world while also seeing his efforts unfold through the eyes of a snowboarder who delights in Zimnik’s wonders, as breathtaking landscapes shift from autumn yellows to cool whites and blues.
The film was nominated for Best Short Film at the IF3 Festival and screened at film festivals in 13 countries.

SHIYA, THE SNOWBOARDER COLLIE, 10’
A “dog-umentary” following the adventures of Shiya, a pup whose greatest love is racing through snowy mountains – something that demands plenty of physical fitness, but above all perfect obedience. The film takes us through her preparations for winter escapades and her journeys up various two-thousand-metre peaks in the Slovenian, Austrian, and Italian Alps.
WHITE BOROVNIČKE, 3’
When the cold sets in and the forests drift toward their winter slumber, most mountain bikers call it a season… except for three die-hard riders who treat the icy, snow-covered trails of Kranj’s Borovničke bike park as a blank canvas.
The screenings will be in Slovene, and the event will be moderated by Toni Cahunek. The photos have been provided by Katja Pokorn.
Following the screenings, Roots in Session, celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, will deliver a nostalgic musical finish.
