In October, we’re hosting a travelling festival of modular synthesis! The Clockwork Voltage community, in collaboration with the Italian collective Bologna Modulare, is launching the first day of the Clockwork Voltage Roaming Festival 2025, a month-long celebration weaving through various clubs across Slovenia with an explosion of sound, improvisation, and experimentation.
The opening night brings together four exceptional sonic explorers:
- 08080 (Jure Anžiček) – a master of modular improvisation whose distorted, sharp, and almost noise-driven sound pushes the boundaries between techno and experimental electronics.
- Material Object – an enigmatic audio artist who has been packing venues for over a decade, from Berlin’s legendary Berghain to Japan’s Labyrinth festival. His music blends analogue warmth with futuristic soundscapes and deep sonic exploration.
- Polyterative – a member of Bologna Modulare, crafting industrial-technoid landscapes on the edge between human and machine, with relentless rhythms and cinematic tension.
- Vinx Scorza – founder of Bologna Modulare, whose raw techno performances explore the dialogue between improvisation and chance, where machines gain their own autonomy and drive a hypnotic dance ritual.
Join the launch of this travelling festival, which in October will connect local and international modular communities, opening up new sonic horizons in club spaces across Slovenia.
About the Clockwork Voltage community
The Clockwork Voltage gatherings bring together Slovenian enthusiasts of modular synthesis with a vibrant mix of creators active across different artistic fields. The name is a playful nod to Stanley Kubrick’s film A Clockwork Orange, referencing the “clock” – one of the fundamental elements in modular synthesis, responsible for driving voltage changes. The community’s mission is to promote live performance in modular music, filling a gap that demands significant skill and experience to execute successfully.
The diversity of the Clockwork Voltage community is reflected in the first compilation release, Happy Little Voltages, dedicated to promoting domestic production and featuring 17 Slovenian musicians. The release offers a marathon of listening and a deep insight into contemporary modular and DIY analogue sound-making, showcasing an impressively wide spectrum of expression.

About the Bologna Modulare community
Bologna Modulare – BoMo for friends – is a hub for modular synth enthusiasts across northern Italy. It was founded in early 2021, at a time when strengthening connections with the “outside world” became essential—a connection that has since been reaffirmed through events exploring a wide variety of genres, formats, and territories.
The collective embraces a diverse sonic spectrum, including ambient, glitch, noise, drone, techno, industrial, downtempo, experimental, soundscape, and even total improvisation—all united by the common thread of modular electronic instruments. It has gathered a vibrant community of artists, as well as other collectives and organizations from Italy and beyond, who have performed, collaborated, or shared experiences.
Despite its relatively young existence, Bologna Modulare has already contributed to or organized nearly 20 events.
