After last year’s visit to Zagreb, Špil Liga returns the favour and is hosting the promising sci-fi metal band Vaktal in collaboration with Croatia’s high school festival Superval. They’ll be joined by a pair of Špil Liga metal legends: season 11 winners Ghastly Ashes and season 10 finalists Black Camo.
The progressive sci-fi metal outfit Vaktal from Zagreb builds its music on death and thrash metal, blending them with jazz and a range of other styles. Since their formation in 2020, they’ve played numerous shows at home and abroad, and in 2021 they released their first EP, Vitriolic Revolt. Their full-length debut is on the way.
Ghastly Ashes is a five-piece groove metal band from the Slovenian coast, defined by raw energy, brutal riffs, and extreme vocals. They’ve been shaking up stages since 2022, and their recent single “Dolls” is announcing their upcoming debut The Dark Side of Eden. They reigned supreme in the 2023/24 season of our Špil Liga competition.
Black Camo is a four-piece thrash metal band that grew from a friends’ passion project into a serious musical collective. In 2023, they made their mark at the Špil Liga finals in Ljubljana, taking second place, followed by performances across Slovenia, including festivals such as Tolminator and Vratolom. Their debut The Cult of Black Camo, ranging from party anthems to anti-war messages, was released this year with a sold-out show at Klub Gromka.
